End of Year

Good morning, Hudson families!

I hope you are all healthy, well, and safe. Many students and families are experiencing difficult emotions and behaviors for a variety of reasons.  Please keep in mind...if we were in school this would be the beginning of celebrations.  We would be gearing up for Field Day, practicing for Hudstock, and looking forward to our end-of-school traditions. May is the time of year when we celebrate our learning and friendships.  If your child is struggling to complete assignments, please do what is best for your family's emotional well-being.

Behavioral Health Response is holding a wellness event this month on their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/BHRSTL/   (Flyer is attached.)  Community agencies throughout Saint Louis are offering a variety of resources as well.  Several organizations are providing telehealth counseling services:

You can access tools from my Google Classroom (sbzdz2t) that might be helpful.  If these strategies become part of a daily routine, children are better able to practice them in times of need.  Having said that, we are still struggling in my house with a routine during Covid!  As one mom put it, "When she's upset, she doesn't want to breathe.  It's just time for a big hug."  So true!  We are all doing our best in these strange times, including our kids! Take care.

It is becoming more commonplace for elementary-age children to access social media websites and apps.  Common Sense Media is a great resource for parents and educators.  The link below gives suggestions on helping our children navigate some of the negative interactions that can arise on social media.  In the upcoming weeks, our technology director Tim Brown will be visiting third through fifth grade classrooms to talk with children about online etiquette and digital footprint.
